On today, Friday, February 3, 2017, the NFL Sanctioned Super Bowl Gospel Celebration (SBGC) will kick-off Super Bowl LI with its 18th Annual star-studded music jubilation at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. This year’s Celebration will be hosted by husband-wife duo, actors (Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns) and gospel singers David and Tamela Mann. The annual event joins together key NFL Players, top Gospel/Contemporary Christian and mainstream GRAMMY® Award-winning artists and special guests all on one stage to bring audiences an evening of uplifting music and inspirational messages. Tickets are available for purchase through Ticket Master and Ticket Servant. The concert will air on BET and Centric TV on February 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM ET/CT (special will re-air at 11:00 PM ET/CT).
Taking the stage for this year’s concert will be ten-time GRAMMY® Award-winning and best-selling female gospel artist of all time CeCe Winans, six-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated and five-time Dove Award Female Vocalist of the Year, contemporary Christian singer Natalie Grant, and world renowned and EMMY® Award-winning contemporary soul violinist Damien Escobar. Other performers include gospel singers Yolanda Adams and Jekalyn Carr, hip-hop artists BJ the Chicago Kid and Lecrae and R&B singers Lalah Hathaway and Anthony Hamilton and special surprise guests.
The highlight of this year’s show will be the NFL Players Choir, which features 40 current and former NFL players. The choir has become one of the most anticipated performances during Super Bowl Weekend, which is now celebrating its ten-year anniversary. Musical Director Myron Butler will also be returning this year to lead the choir.
