Who is Brien Andrews?
Brien Andrews wears many hats – husband, billboard-charting drummer, producer, artist, composer – but the crescendo of his life is that he is a lover of God, people, and music.
Based out of Atlanta, Georgia, Brien’s career as a professional musician has taken him across the globe, including South Africa, Sweden, Japan, and Germany. He is the founder of Bri’Entertainment, LLC, which offers music production for various private and live events, along with studio and live recordings. Brien is finishing up his sophomore project, to be released spring of 2023. In the meantime, let’s learn more about Brien and his new single, “In the Moment”.
In the Moment with Brien Andrews
Brien, when did your love for music start and how long have you been in the music industry?
I’ve been in the music industry professionally for 20 years. My love for music started at the early age of 4, influenced by my mom. While in college, my mom minored in music, and also served as the choir president for many years. So, I grew up heavily influenced by gospel music. From playing drums in church, to cleaning the house on Saturday mornings, gospel music has shaped me into the musician I am today.
What are some of the musical accomplishments that you’re grateful to God for?
I am grateful to have toured and performed with many amazing artists such as Mandisa, Toby Mac, Jennifer Holliday, Ann Nesby, Kelly Price, and Dave Hollister. I’ve recorded with Dottie Peoples, Bishop Paul Morton, Ted Winn, Walter Beasley, Ted & Sheri, the late LaShun Pace, and appeared on the soundtrack for the Greenleaf TV series on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).
It’s always a musical highlight to have performed on Good Morning America, and I was honored to perform and tour with the stage play “Woman Thou Art Loosed” by T.D. Jakes, in Tyler Perry’s “I Know I’ve Been Changed” and in “Hell Hath No Fury Like a Woman Scorned”. I’ve also released a full inspirational project, a Christmas EP, and two smooth jazz singles.
Tell us about your new single, “In the Moment”, and why this is the right moment for this single.
My new single is a smooth jazz instrumental entitled, “In The Moment”, which you can find on all digital platforms. Like most of my music, it embodies a strong melody and an infectious groove that I hope the listeners can feel. It features the great sounds of Kelley O’Neal on sax and West Byrd on piano.
This single is special to me because I was able to collaborate, co-write, and co-produce with the great jazz guitarist, Adam Hawley. Although there are no lyrics, “In the Moment” was written and produced from a place of love and happiness that will uplift and bring a smile on your face as you move to the groove.
There’s so much going on in the world today that has tested and shaken our faith. I want listeners to remember that no matter what moment you may be experiencing right now, allow this single to uplift your heart and inspire the joy, gratitude, and encouragement you need to keep going.
