With profound sadness and utmost respect, we’ve learned that Christian apologist, Ravi Zacharias, has gone home to be with Jesus after battling cancer.
Ravi Zacharias committed his life to Jesus Christ at the age of 17, when he was on his bed of suicide, after hearing the words of Jesus in John 14:19, “Because I live, you also will live.” By the age of 19, his call to preach the gospel was confirmed, winning the Asian Youth Preacher Award at the International Youth Congress in India. By 1984, his worldwide ministry, Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM), was founded with the mission to “reach the thinker and the skeptic, to answer the questions, and to do evangelism undergirded by apologetics.
Always positioned to help the thinker believe, and the believer to think, Zacharias believed in these four pillars anchored in Scripture:
- Eternity – Don’t only live for the moment; live with the eternal in perspective.
- Morality – Jesus came to make dead people live, not bad people good.
- Accountability – It’s me; the one with a heart that’s desperately wicked.
- Charity – We must love those who hate and condemn us.
Our prayers go out to the Zacharias and RZIM families.
