Dear Woman of God, What is Your Life Saying?

woman of god

Your Life Speaks

Did you know that your life communicates with others all the time?

If I were to watch a silent, black and white video of you walking through your day, what would your life say to me?

When Team Jesus Magazine publisher and CEO, Kim Bright(ness), said she was naming this column Her Life Speaks, it was a smirk and raised eyebrow kind of moment (see my first article, Knotted Up) because only God can give those kinds of “I know your heart” surprises.

Above all else, I want people to look at me and see that I am a Christ worshipper and follower, and preferably see this without my having to utter a word.

But, as we all know, God is a God of levels. Once we pass a test, it’s time to move forward to the next.

Find Your Life’s Voice

I’ve heard and read some interesting quotes that I think indicate the passing of one level and the beginning of another. I’d like to share them with you, along with questions for you to ponder:

“You’re dishonest with the truth of who you are and what you really legitimately want. Why are you praying and believing for something that you’re hyper-resistant to believe? You need a spanking that wakes you up out of small thinking and safe living and sameness that makes you beige in a world that’s asking for you to be red hot.” -Allyson Byrd

If beige was a 0 and red hot was a 10, what number would you rate your life?

Jesus’ life was red hot. If you’re living “beige”, what was He doing that you’re not doing?
If Jesus lives in you, what example of His do you need to follow more?

If you want to make a significant impact in the lives of others, you better find your voice and be brave enough to use it. -Joe Duncan

In his book, The 8th Habit, Stephen R. Covey says that when you engage in work (professional, community, family) that taps your talent and fuels your passion—work that rises out of a great need in the world that you feel drawn by conscience to meet—therein lies your voice, your calling, your soul’s code.

Have you discovered your voice?
How can you use it more?

We’re all born individuals but too many of us die copy cats.
-Skylar Diggins-Smith

Do you remember yourself as a child?
In what ways were you freer then?
If your younger self met you now, what would she tell you?
When’s the last time you did something original or unique?

“There’s trouble ahead when you live only for the approval of others, saying what flatters them, doing what indulges them. Popularity contests are not truth contests—look how many scoundrel preachers were approved by your ancestors! Your task is to be true, not popular. -Jesus (Luke 6:26)

In what ways are you living a lie? Who are you at your core? How can she show up more often?

So, What’s the Play Call?

Your life is always communicating something to onlookers. Make sure that as it speaks, it’s saying what God created it to say.

Like Maxine & David: 4 Ways to Reclaim Your Time and Recover All

reclaiming my time

Yes, Team. The Internet has no chill.

You’ve really been off radar (not a bad thing) if you haven’t seen the memes, viral gospel video spoof, or merchandise sales of U.S. Congresswoman Maxine Waters and the now infamous declaration “Reclaiming My Time” during last week’s House Financial Services Committee meeting (see the congressional video for details).

Rep. Waters’ statement has unintentionally sparked a resolution in many to reclaim their time – from lost relationships, missed opportunities, financial mistakes, to simply deciding to make a positive life change in the here and now.

So, where have WE seen the play call to reclaim before, Team Jesus?

When I thought about this idea of REclaiming what belongs to me, in a biblical context, the first person who mastered this play for me was David. Let’s see how we can all take notes.

Take Back What the Enemy Took from You!

In 1 Samuel 30, we find a worn out David and his 600 men returning home to Ziklag. After many battles, on the run, hiding in the wilderness from Saul who sought to kill David (1 Samuel 23:14), David and his band of men were finally home.

But, instead of being greeted by family and finding rest, the Amalekites had burned the city to the ground and taken all of the men’s wives and children captive (1 Samuel 30:2).

Have you ever felt robbed of your time, joy, peace, loved ones you’re praying for by the enemy? Has that enemy ever been the “Enemy in-a-me”?

Team, with every loss there is a lesson – and sometimes the lesson is one of how to reclaim or recover all. And, since we serve the exceeding, abundantly, above all we could ask or think God (Ephesians 3:20), we are graced with opportunities to use the power that works in us to reclaim and/or recover in victory.

Does your loss seem too great to reclaim? Are you beginning to lose hope that you’ll ever recover all?

You, too, like Maxine and David, have the right to exercise your authority to reclaim and recover what’s yours!

How Do I Reclaim My Time and Recover All?

1. Strengthen Yourself in the Lord.

Loss is draining. Disappointments and frustrations will wear you out! Reclaiming our time, our peace… recovering our joy, our confidence, our hope won’t happen by our own strength (Zechariah 4:6). How do we know? Because if we had the power and might, would we have ever lost it, had the setback, taken the hit, fallen off?

No, the strength to reclaim and recover all will come from your Help (Psalms 121:1-2). The Lord your God will send His Spirit to minister to you when, like David, everyone despises you or blames you for the misfortune. It may seem like no one is on your side, but don’t worry, Team, God’s got your back! He will give you the strength to carry the blessings of 1000% recovery!

2. Consult God as to What is Recover-able.

This is important. While most, if not all, losses may hurt, some losses are beautiful blessings. How many times have you mourned the loss of a job, possession, a relationship, only to realize later that the loss was a blessing? Wisdom and maturity tells us – some “losses” are not purposed to ever be reclaimed or recovered.

So, before you take your strength and run after a loss, follow David’s example and consult God (1 Samuel 30:8). Ask God for His perfect will concerning the loss. And, if God says, “Go after it”, seek His guidance and provision along the journey to go after it His way, in His time.

3. Use What God Gave You – It Still Works!

For many of you in a “loss” season – this is not your first rodeo. You’ve experienced set backs, perhaps an illness, or a hurtful disappointment before and lived to tell the story of victory.

Though David faced a devastating loss and must now fight, again, to reclaim his family, he was able to take with him something that reminded him of God’s faithfulness to deliver – the same sword he’d used to slay Goliath (1 Samuel 21:8-9)!

Didn’t the weapon of fasting and praying work for you before? Didn’t following God’s lead to a strategy you would never have thought of work the last time? Wasn’t your obedience and service to God the main qualifier in that unqualified scenario back then? Stick with what works; remember your testimonies and lean on God’s ability to do it again!

4. Maintain a Giving, Kind Spirit on the Recovery Journey.

Though exhausted, sad, and angry, David was presented with 2 opportunities to show a kind, giving heart on his recovery journey. One to the young Egyptian man who showed him where to find the Amalekites and his wives (1 Samuel 30:12), and another to the 200 men who didn’t go to battle with David, but stayed behind at the brook (1 Samuel 30:10, 1 Samuel 30:24).

With the young Egyptian man, we see how kindness will win you favor faster than revenge. Even though the man was a servant to the very people who destroyed David’s city and took his wives, the man was more willing to reveal the hiding place of the Amalekites with “honey vs. vinegar”.  You never know when treating a perceived enemy with kindness will work in your favor.

For the 200 men who stayed behind, David blessed them with their portion of the spoils – even though the men who did fight thought the “bystanders” only deserved their wives and families (1 Samuel 30:22).

How many of us would bless those who didn’t fight or contribute directly to our recovery, win, or success? David was clear – recovery belongs to God. It was God’s blessing to give, and David would not be stingy with what did not belong to him.

So, What’s the Play Call?

Pursue, overtake, and rescue (1 Samuel 30:8). Go boldly and confidently with God – get it ALL back, and then some!

All I Need is Jesus, and Fashion

fashion

Sleeveless blazer: Elle | Pants: H&M | Shoes: Missguided

Fashion is My Passion

Fashion is a way for me to express myself. I love that I can think of something and then bring it to life visually. Just like people express themselves by singing, photography, poetry or even playing sports, I express myself with the artistry of fashion. It’s a place I can go and be creative and be myself. I can be centered with my thoughts and free my mind. I love that I can express myself in this type of way.

Before, I never thought it was a gift from God because, to me, gifts from God were more so singing, playing instruments, production – anything along those lines. But as I got older and deeper into the Word, I saw that fashion was my passion and my gift. It wasn’t just a phase in my life. It’s something that I am very much interested in and it comes naturally to me without even thinking twice. It’s what I call my “happy place” and now I see that it is a gift from God himself.

“Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)

With fashion, I can reach people from all over the world in different walks of life and inspire them to look good and feel good – which is something that I love. I’m glad I can be an inspiration and a light to this world which can, at times, be dark and lonely.

One of my favorite, go-to verses is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). I love that scripture because it not only gives me hope, but it assures me that with Christ on my side, I can conquer anything that comes my way. It keeps me motivated in difficult times because I know that I can and will overcome anything.

Along with scripture and fashion, I stay grounded and motivated in my aspirations and know that with the gifts God has given me, I can do great things in His Kingdom and in this world.

Bryan Popin and “I Got Out”: The Theme Song for 2nd Chances

Does Your Soul Look Back and Wonder?

When you’ve escaped bankruptcy, divorce, or other devastating losses, sometimes you can’t do more than look back to where God brought you from – and wonder – how in the world did I get out of that?

Well, while you stand in awe of our glorious God, who can do the IMPOSSIBLE (Luke 1:37), rising Gospel star Bryan Popin’s got your theme song on lock with his top Billboard-charting, sophomore album release, I Got Out.

We caught up with Bryan at Praise 102.5’s Praise In The Park event in Atlanta, GA last month, before the Nashville-based singer/songwriter entered at No. 1 on both the Billboard Current Gospel Albums and Top Christian/Gospel Albums sales charts.

I’ve worked hard and pushed more than I ever have before to deliver a project that represents my faith,” says Popin. “I started my own label to walk in my purpose and make a way for my music and the messages of encouragement and hope I want to share. I co-produced the album, put together a label team, drove hours to shows and was even my own tour manager, all because of this calling. I don’t take this success lightly. I celebrate it with my family, label team, Gospel radio, the fans, and everyone that has believed in me and supported this ministry. I thank God for such incredible favor and blessings.”

I Got Out is packed with personal, testimony-driven songs and includes the title cut and lead radio single, currently No. 8 on Billboard’s Gospel radio chart. The project is produced by Popin and super-producer AyRon Lewis (Kirk Franklin, James Fortune, Bishop Paul Morton Jr.). “Step In The Name” is loaded with infectious grooves and assertive lyrics to “just let go” and “step into your miracle.” Top-notch collaborations include BET Sunday Best winner Tasha Page-Lockhart joining Popin on “Beautiful Savior,” an audacious cut with a sound that goes beyond the genre, and Gospel music and television superstar Tamela Mann contributing a soulful version of “Alright.”

Get your copy today, Team, on iTunes or Amazon today, and let’s keep teammate Bryan Popin in our prayers for continued God-sized success!

Summer Slim Down Part 3: Eat More Living Foods

living foods

Let Food Be Thy Medicine

What if we actually believed that?  Would we eat differently?  God gave us “every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it.” He said, “They will be yours for food.” (Genesis 1:29, NIV)

There are dozens, if not hundreds of occasions in the Bible where food is a part of a celebration, a means of pleasure and enjoyment.  Food can taste amazing and rightfully so – God created it!  But, He also gave it as a means to nourish and care for our bodies – the dwelling place of the Spirit of God.

We know that almost 69% of adults are either overweight or obese in the United States. While obesity is a complex issue that is not independently connected to food, it certainly plays a significant role!  Sadly, the very thing that has the potential to nourish, heal, and energize our bodies has been manipulated and abused by manufacturing companies. The result?

  • Type 2  Diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Stroke
  • Some types of cancer
  • Chronic inflammation

We know that food is not moral – it is not good or bad – it is just food.  But, our behaviors, relationship, and choices within the context of food hugely affect our overall health.

Previous Good Health articles have addressed our relationship and behaviors with food.  Today, we are going to discuss identifying the best food choices to promote health, wellness, vitality, and longevity.  This doesn’t require a gigantic food budget or shopping at a specialty organic market.  It’s actually pretty simple…

Eat More Real Living Food

Dr. Don Colbert describes it this way: There are living foods and dead foods – choose more living foods.

Living foods promote health by:

  • Supplying the body with an abundance of vitamins and minerals for healthy metabolism, muscle and nerve function, blood pressure control, glucose regulation.
  • Reducing inflammation deep in the body that contributes to cancers, heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, some skin conditions, and even some GI conditions like Crohn’s disease.
  • Stockpiling the body with an abundance of antioxidants that keep your skin, hair, and nails healthy.

What Are “Living Foods”?

Living foods are grown or cultivated foods that can spoil or rot.  Essentially, they have enzymes that eventually cause decomposition.  Dead foods have substances like preservatives that keep them from spoiling for an extended period of time.  They are processed, packaged, and sold on shelves with “sell by” dates that allow for months of storage.

This is not about a guilt trip. This is about nourishing your body in a way that allows you to energetically fulfill your calling.  Let’s face it, dead foods give us cravings. They make us lethargic and contribute to diseases that take up mental and physical energy – energy we could be devoting to our purpose.

Here are 4 easy-to-follow strategies that will help you implement a living food approach within your daily eating pattern.

1. Eat ½ Plate of Veggies

At lunch and dinner, make it a goal to cover half of your plate with non-starchy vegetables. These include greens, summer squash, green beans, carrots, eggplant, salad and so much more!  For a full list, read here.

For many meals, this means rethinking the recipe or how the meal is served. But often, it doesn’t mean you need to toss out a meal altogether.  For example,

  • Spaghetti – ½ plate of salad OR ½ plate of sauteed veggies along with ¼ plate of whole grain pasta and ¼ plate of tomato and meat sauce.
  • Tacos – make a taco salad with greens, sauteed onions and peppers, and tomatoes; top with a mixture of lean ground meat and black beans with a dollop of light sour cream and salsa.
  • Stir Fry – include more veggies and cut back on the rice to ¼ of the plate.
  • Lasagna – replace some of the pasta layered with sliced zucchini or eggplant and add a side salad.

Meals can easily be modified to add in veggies and remove some of the processed foods without a lot of effort.

TAKE ACTION: Begin by thinking about your top 5 family favorite meals and how you can make a few tweaks to add in more veggies.

2. Add Variety to Either Your Vegetable Choices or Vegetable Preparation Each Week

Growing up, my family ate about 10 different types of veggies.  We liked all of them, but when you look at this list, there are dozens of veggies just waiting to be tasted! Sometimes, veggies are boring because we make them the same way every week.  So, try something new!

You can choose an entirely new vegetable recipe or create a simple change to your current preparation methods.  Maybe this week you add a squeeze of lemon and some slivered almonds to your steamed green beans.  Or, maybe you try making some guacamole dip for fresh veggies instead of the traditional ranch dressing.  Could you try adding some fresh herbs on top of the grilled veggies before serving? Maybe you have always wanted to try roasting veggies but just haven’t given it a shot yet?

TAKE ACTION: Choose 1 new vegetable you haven’t tried or tweak your traditional vegetable preparation to add some new spice and flavor. Which one of your favorite vegetable dishes needs a make-over?

3. Visit the Farmer’s Market

farmer's marketWhen feeling uninspired, just take a spin around the local Farmer’s Market!  There are dozens of farmers just waiting to talk with you about their beautiful produce and they have a wealth of creative ideas on how to prepare these tasty vegetables.  It is not like a grocery store that is simply selling a product.  These are individuals who have chosen to grow these foods and eat them as well!

Don’t be afraid to ask about a fruit or vegetable and how to prepare it.  They aren’t there to judge your knowledge. No, they want to inspire the shoppers with mouth-watering ideas so that they want to buy the produce!

TAKE ACTION: Plan 1 family trip to the local market within the next 2 weeks. Give each person the job of choosing 1 different food to learn about and try.  Allow that person to take the lead (or assist) in making a dish with that type of produce. Go discover together!

4. Add 1 Plant-Based Meal Per Week

Meatless Monday is not just a fad. It’s a way of living that encourages the consumption of more plant-based meals. The goal isn’t about removing the meat or poultry so people feel deprived.  On the contrary, it’s about making the veggies, beans, legumes and living foods the star!

When considering recipes for a meatless meal, you must change your way of thinking so that it is not one of elimination but of addition.  For example, add in veggies and lentils to the tomato sauce for spaghetti night.  Add in edamame and chickpeas to the stir fry. Otherwise, your family will feel deprived and the meal won’t satisfy.

If the family members are opposed to meatless meals, try reducing the amount of meat you prepare by half and adding another bean or vegetable side dish to the meal to make up for the reduction.  For example, make tacos with ½ pound of ground beef instead of 1 pound and add in 1 or 2 cans of black or pinto beans into the mixture.

TAKE ACTION: Plan 1 meatless OR mostly meatless meal to make this week.  If unable to take action for a family meal, then choose a lunch you can make meatless like my Quinoa Edamame Salad with Citrus Vinaigrette.

So, what’s the play call?

Learning to steward and care for our bodies the way God intended takes practice and intentionality, especially in a culture where we are bombarded with clever messages from brands that don’t have our wellness in mind.  While there isn’t any guilt about eating a french fry every now and then, there also isn’t a ton of benefits to eating it, either.

“See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction…Now choose life, so that you and your children may live (Deuteronomy 30:15,19 NIV).”

You always have a choice.

Love: One Size Fit All

Many times an outfit can speak volumes. An outfit choice is usually correlated to a season. Not just seasons in terms of climate and weather, but seasons of lessons, relationships, and growth. One of the most important lessons that brings growth is learning how to love one’s self.

There’s nothing more rewarding than waking up every day loving ourselves; Jesus encouraged us to “Love your neighbor as you love yourself (Matthew 22:39).  But, let’s be real. Truly loving ourselves is one of today’s biggest challenges. It has taken me about 4 years to actually learn what love is and what it looks like to genuinely love myself.

Looking back at the process, I can remember the foolish things I would do so another person could, sadly, love me too. And, I say sadly because it wasn’t the right kind of love. Have you been there too?

You Are Chosen for Love, by Love

When you or someone else CHOOSES to love, you’re choosing it all – the good, the bad, the scary past. Love isn’t just an expression, it’s a verb that requires a constant commitment.

Every day without missing a beat, Jesus CHOOSES US (John 15:16) – even if our current mood or actions don’t choose Him. He says, “I’m willing to love you with your mess and all.” He’s in favor, in the mood, intentional about all of you. When this love begins to sink into our hearts and minds, we’ll slowly digress from the world’s definition of love.

If friends, significant others, mentors, family members, YOURSELF, are not loving all of you, then it’s time to re-evaluate those areas in your life. There’s no way in heaven that you could carry out healthy relationships with yourself or others without loving yourself correctly.

When you believe in your heart that you are worthy of love, your mind will start to act on that thought, and you will freely choose yourself and others daily.

Once I accepted this truth, my relationship with God grew. The way I treated myself changed and the way I treated others and/or allowed others to treat me also changed.

We were created by love, to love, and to be loved.

So LET GO and start to… LOVE!

Summer Slim Down Part 2: 6 Steps to Create Meal Plans That Work

meal plans

If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail. — Benjamin Franklin

Meal Plans for the Win

Any accomplishment in life begins with a plan.  No one just “stumbles” into victory.

If you want to improve your marriage, you evaluate and plan ways to intentionally live out love.

If you want to improve your blood sugar, you talk with a healthcare professional about substitutes for the foods that raise your blood glucose.

If you want to eat more meals at home, you determine a plan to make cooking dinner a reality in your life.

Planning is necessary for success.

But, planning can also be intimidating.  It can feel overwhelming, especially if we don’t know where to begin.  The first place to begin is submitting your goals to the only One with the plans for success.

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans. — Proverbs 16:3 (NIV)

If you want to ‘slim down,’ clean up your eating habits, or address a health concern, He wants to help you!  God wants you to succeed!  He wants to help you create a plan of action!  God is thrilled that you want to steward your body well!  He is ready to help and cheer you on!

For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. — Proverbs 2:6 (NIV)

If He is not a part of your ‘slim down’ yet, invite Him.

But, we all know that faith without works is dead.  Believe God will give you wisdom and insight.  And act according to the knowledge you have.

Now, let’s get practical…

Research shows that meal planning is associated with a healthier diet and less obesity. From my experience working with hundreds of individuals, meal planning is one of the most monumental practices that can transform the way you nourish your body.  If you and your family are not in the habit of meal planning each week, this step-by-step guide below will show you how easy it is to get started!

1. Evaluate Your Week

Meal plans don’t work if they conflict with your weekday schedule. Planning a new recipe on game night will only lead to frustration. Deciding on a 30-minute meal when you only have 15 minutes to cook will put a kink in your plans quick.

Before making any plans for meals, grab your phone, calendar or device you use to stay organized and view all events going on during the week. Consider the nights when a work project might cause you to stay late. Think about what time you arrive home from ballet or ball practice.  Consider Bible study, dinner with girlfriends, and ‘date night.’  Know what is going on so you can plan accordingly.

2. Determine When You Will Shop for Groceries

meal plan grocery shoppingIn order to cook healthy meals at home, you must have ingredients. Designate a day and time each week to shop. If you dislike the crowds, early morning and late evening tend to be the least busy times at the grocery store. But, the most important part is choosing a time that works for your schedule.  Your grocery shopping day may change each week so it is important to base this around weekly events AND to add it to your schedule, just like an appointment. Realistically estimate how long it will take to you to get to the store, arrive back home and put up groceries.

3. Choose to Make at Least 1-2 Meals that Will Provide Leftovers

While some individuals are not fond of leftovers, this strategy can save you hours of time in the kitchen.  Leftovers are perfect for ‘ballgame nights’ or evenings when you arrive home late.  If you like more variety, freeze leftovers so that you can defrost them on busy nights 1-2 weeks later.

Leftover ingredients can also be easily morphed into completely different meals with a little creativity.  Here are a few ideas…

Uneaten Pasta from Spaghetti Night. Make pasta salad with diced grilled chicken, feta cheese, black olives, chopped zucchini and bell peppers and finish with a balsamic or Italian vinaigrette

Leftover Quinoa. Try out this Quinoa Edamame Salad with Citrus Vinaigrette for a fast and fresh vegetarian meal.

Extra Roasted or Grilled Veggies. Make a frittata with eggs, milk, cheese and any veggies you can find.

Roast Chicken. Slice up and add atop a salad with a small microwaved baked potato on the side for an easy meal in less than 20 minutes.

4. Stick to Meals You Already Know How to Make

Beautiful food is everywhere.  You don’t have to look far to find photographs of gorgeous looking recipes that make your mouth water.  But, making new recipes takes more time than making the ones you already know how to make.  Trying out different recipes can be fun, exciting, and tasty, but it is up to you as to how often that should be.  Once a week? Once a month?

Avoid planning to make a new recipe on those nights when you might arrive home frazzled or your time is limited. Instead, choose a day when you have more time to spare.  Make it a fun time to explore new cuisine, try a different ingredient or practice an unfamiliar cooking technique.

If you are concerned that your typical meals are not healthy enough, there are many ways to easily tweak your recipes to improve the quality, reduce unnecessary fat, and minimize empty calories:

  • Use low-fat or reduced-fat milk, cheese, sour cream
  • Choose a leaner cut of meat – notice % leanness when purchasing
  • Reduce the amount of oil used by ½
  • Bump up the veggies to ½ your plate and reduce protein and starch to ¼ of the plate

5. Engage Your Family in the Meal Plan

meal plansOne of the biggest barriers with meal planning is that it involves multiple people with different opinions, food preferences, and food allergies/intolerances.  Making an ‘ideal’ meal plan that no one else will want to eat will only cause resistance and frustration.  It is necessary for someone to lead in this area (often a mom or dad), but gaining some input from kids or your spouse can reduce complaints, tension, and mealtime behavior issues.

Here are a few ways to invite your family to take part in helping with the meal plan without adding more stress:

  • Invite kids to choose from a list of veggies to help you determine what sides to have with several dinners
  • Ask a spouse to choose from 3 “new” recipes you found to determine which one is most appealing to try out this week
  • Rotate each week allowing 1 child to help plan and cook a meal- this gives mom (or dad) some extra help in the kitchen and empowers the child
  • Ask family members to suggest one way to make a current family favorite a little bit healthier – see what suggestions are made!

6. Create Your “Plan B”

Even the best of plans don’t always work out.  Life is messy, non-stop, and sometimes a bit unpredictable.  This is why it is crucial to have a backup plan!  Determine 2 or 3 healthy meal alternatives when you are not able to follow through on your scheduled plan.  This removes guilt often associated with lack of follow-through.

Post these healthy alternatives in the kitchen (bulletin board, chalk board, or refrigerator) so that when you are in a bind, your ideas are right in front of you.

Stress can alter our ability to make healthy decisions.  Go ahead and make the decisions in advance…what will you buy at a particular restaurant?  What healthy(ier) take-out options are nearby?

Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now. –Alan Lakein

So, what’s the play call?

You play a role in how your future unfolds.  Good health can be a wish or reality.  A slimmer waistline can be a dream or certain.  Every individual can give dozens of excuses for why they don’t meal plan or struggle through it, but those who choose to “commit their plans to the Lord” actually have plans.

…Then He will establish them.

No Vacations from Prayer!

Summertime Prayer Time?

Team!

Here’s a quick reminder video from us and our friends at OurPrayer to stay connected to God in prayer throughout the summer months!

Yes, we’re laid back, resting, and enjoying our vacation schedules – but make sure you don’t take a vacation from prayer. We have this promise that our Father is available to hear our prayers 24/7/365 – He never sleeps nor slumbers (Psalms 121:4). But, here’s an even better promise – “Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear.” (Isaiah 65:24) – and that promise doesn’t expire during June, July, and August!

Remember these summertime tips for staying connected to God, and share them with your friends, loved ones, and the body of Christ where you live and serve.
