Come As You Are

come as you are
Jacket: Forever 21 (Custom) | Shirt: Tommy Hilfiger | Bow Tie: Zara | Slacks: Levis | Shoes: Aldo

When I began my relationship with Jesus, it took me a while to become comfortable with the thought of giving up my Sunday mornings. I was a senior in high school at the time and I was really content with just going to youth service on Fridays, and staying home on Sundays.

After some time, and some encouragement from my best friend, I decided to give Sunday mornings a try. I only had one question:

“What should I wear?”

Ever since I was in elementary school, I loved expressing myself with what I wear. I’m a strong believer in the phrase “look good, feel good.” My outfits are usually correlated to how I’m feeling or would like to feel. If I’m happy, or happy about where I am headed, I’d dress accordingly. The same goes for if I were upset. Aside from these two inspirations for what I wear, there is a third – it’s called “I don’t care.”

I think everyone can relate to this “I don’t care” feeling. You know, that feeling of waking up in the morning and you don’t want to go wherever you’re headed, or you have too much going on in life to care about what you put on.

This is when your sweatpants and flip-flops have their opportunity to shine. Though I dislike this emotion, the feeling is both very real and common, especially when it pertains to a place I don’t want to go.

Everyone Can Come to Him

My best friend answered my question with, “Come as you are.” (Isaiah 55:1)

At the time I wasn’t fully aware of what that phrase meant, so I wore what I felt like I should rather than what I would normally wear; you know, some shiny shoes, slacks, and a button-down shirt.

At first, it was tolerable. I believed it was the right thing to do even though I wasn’t being myself. The real problem came about when I realized – I don’t have enough church clothes!

I couldn’t help feeling that everyone would notice I wore these same slacks a week or two weeks ago. Maybe I was thinking like a teenager, but it made me feel really uncomfortable for a while.

One Saturday night, that “I don’t care” feeling came up. This time, instead of throwing on sweats, I decided to wear what I loved to wear – jeans and sneakers. Sure, I had those thoughts of “what would people think?”, or “what would people say?”

At the same time, I knew where I was going, and why I was going.

I was going to church to be in the presence of Jesus, and God knows me and my heart, so what I wear – jeans or slacks, a button-down shirt or a hoodie – doesn’t matter. What matters is me knowing I can be genuine and 100% myself in the presence of God and be loved, accepted, and transformed.

Being 100% genuine means bringing all that I am – the good, the bad, and the ugly – before Jesus, and letting Him crucify my flesh. “Here is all that I am, Jesus!”

When I began to wear what I felt genuine in, yeah, I had some folks saying “I’d prefer if you’d wear this” or “I’d prefer if you’d wear that,” but for me I was happy. I trusted Jesus to make me whole versus people or tradition telling me to where this or that in order to be “good”. I learned that I was accepted by God for who I was as a whole, even the parts that I thought were insignificant or needed work.

Fast forward to today where I have a better knowledge of what it means to “come as you are”, I am now in the position to give God glory by inviting others to come as they are.

I believe that for many, fashion is more than the fabric we use to cover our bodies. It’s an extension of one’s background, personality, and emotions. All of which helps make up a major piece of who we are as individuals.

This is why I created What We Wear 2 Church. It’s a way to show others that they can “come as they are” just as my best friend told me. It is a message I believe EVERYONE needs to hear. Whether you’ve never been to church, just started coming to church, or even been going to church your entire life. “Come as you are,” because you are accepted as you are, and free to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior… as you are.

Summer Slim Down Part 1: What Beverages Are You Drinking?

summer slim down

Assessing your daily beverages is one of the easiest places to begin when it comes to a summer slim down by removing unnecessary calories and sugar. Your beverages could be standing in the way of your weight success.

An intelligent person is always eager to take in more truth;
fools feed on fast-food fads and fancies. Proverbs 15:14 (MSG)

According to the CDC, about 50% of individuals consume at least 1 sugar-sweetened beverage per day. For many, this contributes unnecessary calories (empty calories) that provide absolutely no nutritional value. In addition, the sugars in these beverages contribute to a host of health issues, including elevated blood sugars and risk of diabetes, obesity, and energy crashes.

In case you thought your 1 sugar-sweetened beverage per day was harmless, here are a few numbers that may blow your mind!

  • 16oz sweet tea = ~140 calories, 36 grams sugar
  • 16oz fruit punch = ~240 calories, 60 grams sugar
  • 16oz soda (ie. coke) = 186 calories, 47 grams sugar
  • 16oz 100% juice = ~240 calories, 58 grams sugar
  • 16oz (grande) caramel macchiato = 280 calories, 33g sugar
  • 16oz (grande) frappuccino (with whip) = 400-500 calories, 50-60g sugar

Even 100% juice contributes a dramatic amount of calories and sugar! While it might come from fruit, eating the fruit is the best way to avoid blood sugar spikes. One tennis ball size piece of fruit contributes 2-4 grams of fiber and about 60-80 calories. Whole fruit takes longer to eat and contains fiber so blood sugars rise slower and you stay full longer.

But, let’s also not forget that alcohol boasts some pretty hefty calories as well. Unless you drink light beer with only 40 calories and stop after only 1 beverage, you might be consuming a small meal in calories from alcohol!

  • 12oz dark beer = 180-200 calories
  • 5oz wine = ~120 calories
  • 1oz 80 proof liquor = ~64 calories

Mixed drinks drastically differ in calories, but many include simple syrups, juice, soda or tonic water in addition to the liqueur, significantly elevating calories and sugar. And, let’s not forget that there is a well known indirect correlation- as alcohol increases, smart food choices decrease. Plain and simple.

Gaining knowledge and insight is instrumental to creating lasting change and motivation. After knowledge comes application- living it out.

Let’s get practical. Where to begin…

Make a Quick List of All the Beverages You Drink – EVERYTHING

…even on the “special occasions.”

Include dairy, juice, punch, tea, sodas, alcohol, sports beverages, coffee, energy drinks, protein shakes… everything! Estimate how much you consume on a daily (or weekly) basis:

Examplez12oz juice or lemonade for dinner

  • 20oz sweet tea for lunch
  • 12oz latte with caramel syrup in AM
  • 16oz bottle of water during the day

Determine What Beverages Contribute to Unnecessary Calories and Sugar

Skim through your pantry and fridge looking at the nutrition label- pay close attention to calories, sugar and any nutrients the beverage does or does not provide. Of course, your answer is never more than a Google search away!

NOTE the serving size on the package vs what you are drinking. If the nutrition label says 4oz = 1 serving, but you drink about 12oz in your typical glass, then you need to triple the numbers to determine how much you are consuming.

Identify 1 or 2 Changes You’d Like to Make

Consider changes that can include the entire family or household. If you question your consumption of it, then it is likely not ideal for others as well. Keep the changes small, but specific.

Example

  • Drink 2, 16oz bottles of water per day instead of 1
  • Choose either juice at dinner or sweet tea at lunch, not both

Make a Plan of Action

How will you go about this change? Cold turkey? Wean down? Will you discontinue buying a specific beverage altogether? What will you drink in place of this beverage? Write down a concise, clear, action plan:

Example

I will no longer buy juice at the grocery store. Instead, I will buy unsweetened sparkling water and add a squeeze of lemon, orange or lime for flavor. I will drink this at dinner each night.

Envision How These 1 (or 2) Changes Will Affect Your Weight or Health

Example

  • By replacing the juice with infused water, I will eliminate ~250 calories per day.
  • By eliminating at least 1 sugar-sweetened beverage per day, I will reduce daily blood sugar and hemoglobin A1C at my next doctor’s appointment.

Don’t forget to set boundaries about what is ‘acceptable’ on special occasions. This means you need to determine how much sugar-sweetened or adult beverages you are planning to consume BEFORE you attend a gathering, eat out at a restaurant, or attend a fancy event. You must agree to your plan regardless of other people’s actions.

Now that you have your Action Plan, take the next 2 weeks to direct your focus to put it into action – again and again. Don’t focus on other nutrition goals at the same time. Instead, give this all your attention. Work through any unexpected challenges and resistance.

While you cannot force anyone to make these decisions with you, you do have significant influence over what is brought into your home. Speak truth in love. Plan a family meeting if necessary and talk about your specific concerns of health issues that could arise or get worse if these beverage choices do not change. Take ownership for your past history and actions and make yourself accountable. Let those close to you know what type of beverage choices to expect from you moving forward.

Weight loss will continue to be a moving target if we don’t address one area at a time. Begin by focusing on how you are hydrating and nourishing your body through beverages. If you want to lose weight for good, you must own your reality, execute the power of focus and celebrate small wins.

FlavorFUL beverages don’t need to be loaded with sugar! Get this PDF, 5 Refreshing Summer Beverages, Low on Calories, Overflowing with Flavor, when you subscribe to Healthy Inspiration.

So, what’s the play call?

It’s easy to continue our same patterns and complain of no change. That’s what a lot of people do. But we-YOU- are more than conquerors! The victory you want in your health, freedom from attachment to sugar or foods, and the change you want in your waistline- it is yours!

The foggy feeling of being overwhelmed clouds our minds and can prevent smart, intentional choices. Don’t get bogged down by ALL the changes you need to make. Ask God to help you identify 1 change in your beverages choices. Start there.

You’ve got this!

Is it Islamophobic for Christians to Believe that Jesus is the Only Way?

“A phobia is a type of anxiety disorder. It is a strong, irrational fear of something that poses little or no real danger.” – MedlinePlus, U.S. National Library of Medicine

There’s another pseudo-phobia gaining traction in political arenas when it comes to Christian doctrine.

During a recent confirmation hearing, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont raised eyebrows as he pressed Russell Vought, President Trump’s nominee for deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget, about his Christian beliefs.

Vought, in a blog post for his alma mater, stated:

Muslims do not simply have a deficient theology. They do not know God because they have rejected Jesus Christ his Son, and they stand condemned. In John 8:19, “Jesus answered, ‘You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.” In Luke 10:16, Jesus says, “The one who rejects me rejects him who sent me.” And in John 3:18, Jesus says, “Whoever believes in [the Son] is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”

Vought’s beliefs were the highlights of Sen. Sanders’ questions (see video):

“Do you believe people in the Muslim religion stand condemned?” Sanders asked. “What about Jews? Do they stand condemned, too?”

“I’m a Christian,” Vought repeatedly responded.

“I understand you are a Christian,” Sanders said, raising his voice. “But there are other people who have different religions in this country and around the world. In your judgment, do you think that people who are not Christians are going to be condemned?”

“I believe that all individuals are made in the image of God and are worthy of dignity and respect regardless of their religious beliefs,” Vought said, while also emphasizing “the centrality of Jesus Christ in salvation.”

“This nominee is really not someone who this country is supposed to be about,” Sanders said, announcing that he’d vote against him.

Is it “Islamophobic”, as Sanders implied, for a Christian to believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation and to escape eternal condemnation?

Critics of Sanders’ line of religious questioning have called attention to the U.S. Constitution, Article VI, which states:

…no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.

What are your thoughts, Team Jesus?

The standards of God, Christian doctrine and beliefs are becoming less and less popular in mainstream society. Yet, we are not shocked, but stand even firmer in our faith. According to 2 Timothy 4:3:

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions.

Don’t be discouraged by the world’s benevolence with the word phobia where there is a difference in beliefs. Continue to honor God, stand firm on His promises, and follow Christ’s example of love.

We can love and disagree without fear.

Is Dead Weight Destroying Your Destiny? Begin Within.

dead weight

I flipped on my television and saw a kid with a cantaloupe-sized tumor on the side of his neck, which could eventually lead to a slow suffocation.

The next scene showed an adult with cataracts on both eyes who had never seen her young daughter.

Next, I saw a baby girl with a cleft lip who would be unable to speak clearly.

The next scene was a school-aged girl whose bout with malaria caused her knees to turn backward. How she walked in that condition is beyond my understanding.

The organization performing miracles on these beautiful people was called Mercy Ships. I’m still blown away by their opening:

Bringing hope and healing to the world’s forgotten poor…

They were literally causing the lame the to walk and the blind to see.

I burst into tears as I saw miracle after miracle.
I cried because I hated to see thousands line up for a chance to be healed.
I cried because they were healed!
I cried because I have no idea how blessed I am to live the life I live.

And, I cried because I don’t want to be a lame hand, a blind eye, or a suffocating tumor on the body of Christ – not when Jesus is our miracle worker.

In this way, we are like the various parts of a human body. Each part gets its meaning from the body as a whole, not the other way around. The body we’re talking about is Christ’s body of chosen people. Each of us finds our meaning and function as a part of his body. But as a chopped-off finger or cut-off toe we wouldn’t amount to much, would we? So since we find ourselves fashioned into all these excellently formed and marvelously functioning parts in Christ’s body, let’s just go ahead and be what we were made to be, without enviously or pridefully comparing ourselves with each other, or trying to be something we aren’t. (Romans 12:4-6)

Let’s just be what we were made to be.

peaceA lot of us are being something other than what God created us to be.

We’re pursuing things for the wrong reasons. We’re afraid of boldly going after the vision He has given us. We think we’re being humble when we don’t ask for too much when we’re really being selfish because the little bit we asked for can’t bless the people God sends our way.

We’re settling for what is easy and comfortable. We’re settling for what doesn’t sound too “out there” or arrogant. We’d rather be liked than speak the truth in love. We’re too busy to figure out how to hate the sin, but love the sinner with a love so pure they feel Christ when they’re near us.

We’re too stuck in the past to create a future that lines up with the promises of God. We’re too busy pretending everything’s okay to share a testimony that shows the magnitude of God. We’re so afraid of being mistreated that we shoo away folks who have been sent to link arms with us.

We’re so afraid of rejection that we don’t even show up and give God a chance to perform a miracle.

In essence, we’re a dead limb, a blood-sucking tumor, an eye that can’t see.

Who Were YOU Created to Be?

We were created to be Christ in the Earth, but we’re content with just being on the Earth.

A few weeks ago, a co-worker was killed in a head-on collision on her way to work. She left behind a school-aged daughter and a host of family and friends who were and still are in great awe and disbelief at her passing. But, no one knows when today will be our last. Even though we know we have a home with our Savior, we’re human and the thought of leaving behind our loved ones makes us sad.

But, let Brooke’s passing be an urgent reminder that you have work to do.

You have a testimony to tell, a book to write, a business to start, a family member to reconcile with, a grudge to burn, a sin to kick in the teeth, forgiveness to give, a second chance to give, hope to give, someone to feed, someone to clothe, someone to encourage, debt to eliminate, a legacy to leave, an apology to give, values to teach, someone to mentor…

So, what’s the play call?

Get in line for your miracle! I’m imagining Jesus walking, transforming every town He visited, performing miracles. Do you think there was any part of His body that was missing the power to heal? He could cure someone with his pinky toe!

So, no matter what part He has assigned to you, ALL of HIM in you is radical, bad to the bone, powerful beyond words, and LIT!

Are you acting like a dead limb or the most powerful pinky toe you’ve ever seen?

The volunteers on Mercy Ship are the hands and feet of God every day! Not only do they cure the world’s forgotten poor with surgery, they love on them and celebrate them.

We don’t have to pack up and move to a remote part of the world to see a miracle.

We are miracles just waiting to happen.

So, let’s just be what we were made to be.

Canadian Parents: Oppose Your Child’s Gender Identity, Lose Your Child. Et tu, America?

children

On June 1, 2017, Canada’s Ontario province passed The Supporting Children, Youth and Families Act of 2017 (Bill 89), which requires courts, social workers, and adoption services to consider “race, ancestry, place of origin, color, ethnic origin, citizenship, family diversity, disability, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression” when making decisions about the well-being of children.

In unprecedented fashion, the new law allows for the removal of biological children from their parents if the parents do not support their child’s homosexuality or gender identity or expression of choice.

Such opposition to LGBTQ-related beliefs are now considered “abuse” or child endangerment, wherein the child can be removed from the home to make the abuse stop.

Bill 89 replaces the previous Child and Family Services Act, where parents had the right to direct a child’s “education and religious upbringing.” The new law deletes the parent’s rights to raise their children according to their religious beliefs, and instead instructs parents to “direct the child’s or young person’s education and upbringing, in accordance with the child’s or young person’s creed, community identity and cultural identity.”

michael coteau
Michael Coteau, Minister of Children and Youth Services (image news.ontario.ca)

According to Michael Coteau, Minister of Children and Youth Services, “We listened to people across the province, including young people with experience in care, and used what we heard to strengthen services and better protect and care for Ontario’s most vulnerable young people. Our Child, Youth and Family Services Act puts children and youth at the heart of decision-making and paves the way for services that are more accountable and responsive.”

Opponents have called the measure oppressive and a violation of religious liberties. “With the passage of Bill 89, we’ve entered an era of totalitarian power by the state, such as never witnessed before in Canada’s history,” said Jack Fonseca of Canada’s Campaign Life Coalition.

“Make no mistake, Bill 89 is a grave threat to Christians and all people of faith who have children, or who hope to grow their family through adoption.”

——-

So, What’s the Play Call?

Let’s pray for Canadian parents who are affected by this new law.

Christ followers in America, what are your thoughts? The word of God tells parents to train up a child in the way they should go – not “children, train your parents to approve of your ways.” Proverbs 22:6

Will the body of Christ stand against such laws? Will you render obedience to Caesar that actually belongs to God (Matthew 22:21)?

God forbid.

5 Prayer Myths — Busted!

Prayer is one of our most important tools, yet it is often underrated and overlooked. Typically, if we think a tool is too hard – we’ll rarely use it.

But, God wants His people to be well-equipped with prayer, and to understand just how powerful and effective prayer is (James 5:16).

Have you ever noticed that after Paul describes the whole armor of God, he immediately emphasizes the importance of prayer – “praying always with all prayer and supplication” (Ephesians 6:17-18)?

Or, how about the play call to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)?

It’s pretty safe to say that prayer is a must-do for believers!

While some may have a jaded view of prayer, are unsure of how to pray, or use prayer in inappropriate ways, God desires for us to grow closer to Him through prayer – without all of the complications and myths about prayer.

So, here are a few prayer myths that we, along with our prayer partners, Our Prayer, would like to BUST for good.

5 Prayer Myths Busted

1. Prayer is a one-way communication method to God.

Fathers who desire a close relationship with their children communicate with them. “Buy me this, do that for me” will never be the extent of communication between a good father and his child. Neither would this one-way communication be the end all between us and our good, good, Father!

While it is true that the Bible encourages us to “make our requests known” and “ask”, the communication with God doesn’t stop there. In our thankful silence or meditation on God’s goodness, His still small voice will speak back to our hearts. So after your petitions, keep your line of communication open, just as God does for us.

2. The more eloquent the prayer, the better.

Have you ever heard someone pray, and thought, “I wish I could pray like that”? Some prayers flow so eloquently – surely they reach heaven faster, right? Wrong!

Our Father encourages us to come to Him as little children (Luke 18:16-17). Children have little to no respect for pretense – they say what’s on their mind! God wants to communicate with you just how you speak, just how you feel – no fancy dictionary words required. He hears all of His children (1 John 5:15), without comparison or respect of person.

3. People can pray against you (and vice versa).

Have you ever heard or said, “They were praying against me”, or “I prayed against them”? Well, Team, this is an example of an inappropriate use of prayer for selfish motives (James 4:3).

First, God is love, who cannot be tempted with nor do wrong (James 1:13). Second, God is not our genie, waiting to do our bidding upon command. There is no trading places – we are the creation, God is Creator.

We answer to Him, and God has not instructed us to pray against people – but to love and pray for our enemies (Matthew 5:44).  Let this be your response, “Yes, Lord, not my will but Yours be done.”

To round out our 5 prayer mythbusters, check out 2 additional myths about prayer in the video above.

What are some other prayer myths you’ve heard of,
and how did you bust them?

Yes! I would like prayer. Please pray for me.

4 Ways to Extinguish Sin Before It Consumes You

sin

Backdraft

I saw this movie once when I was in high school. It was about these fires that were seemingly small, but once a window or door was opened and oxygen was allowed in, the fire would roar to life, consuming everything and everyone in its path.

Of course, it got me thinking about the devil, sin, and how we open the door for him to get in.

Let’s use sex as an example.

We know from the word that sex before marriage is a sin. When we’re not involved or dating someone, it’s easier to stay in right standing.

But, then we meet him. And things begin to drastically change.

It starts with the packaging. His beard is tight. His suit is tailored. He makes eye contact and has an Orbitz-bright smile. Then, if he’s smart, he says something to make you smile. Now you’re both smiling. Then you talk and engage. You laugh out loud! He likes what you like. You like what he likes. Good stuff!

The Conception of Lust

Oh, wait, now. He believes in Jesus. Check. He goes to church. Check. He wants to be married. He wants children. Chiggedy check!

A week passes. More conversations. A date. A kiss. More conversations. Another week passes. Another date. Another kiss. A hug. A deeper hug. Smoke. More conversations. Jackpot. You think you’re in love. The conversation begins to shift from Christ to carnal thangs.

Small fire.

This fire could be put out with something as simple as “So, how about those Yankees?” But we are stimulated by it. It’s not like we’re doing anything. We’re just talking. It’s good to know these things: what he likes, what you like.

At night when you go to bed, if the conversation is not happening while you’re actually in the bed, you can’t think of anything but that.

Small fire.

You don’t pray. Instead, you lay awake imagining what it would be like to be with him.

Small fire.

You send a flirty text to him. He sends one back. He sends you a picture. You send him a picture.

Small fire.

The next date is something cozier – a Netflix and chill type of thing. You say to yourself, “He knows that I’m trying to wait.” But, you snuggle up to him on the couch. When you lean forward, his hand lands on your lady parts. (You pick the part. Just know it’s a part that is going to lead y’all into iniquitttttty.)

Small fire.

Y’all have a little wine. And, then he kisses you. And you liiiike it. And the door is opened.

Backdraft.

The roaring flames of passion are upon you and you’re nekkid. And there is no going back because the Word of God says You must flee from sin! (2 Timothy 2:22). Flee – meaning take off running like the neighbor’s dog got loose and you look like a steak! If you could walk away from it, that would mean it wasn’t that strong in its power. BUT the Word says flee!

But, you didn’t flee. You didn’t even fl…

Since you’re all in now, you go for it again. And again. Until some months later you realize y’all don’t talk about God at all. Y’all don’t go anywhere. He says he’s not ready for a relationship. You haven’t prayed or been in your prayer closet. And you want to die because he is not returning your calls anymore.

Everything you thought you had burnt to a crisp by the small fires that were never put out.

Sin is not the Boogey Man, but a Killer

That’s the thing with sin. It doesn’t pop out of nowhere. It would be too obvious and a shock to our Christian sensibilities.

Of course, you would never commit adultery. But light flirting with the guy from marketing lights the fuse on those frisky fireworks and ultimately fizzles your marriage.

Of course, you would never steal money from the company. But “borrowing” petty cash for your morning breakfasts loses its sting after awhile. Soon it’s lunch, too. Hello, central booking!

This is why you will sometimes see people refuse certain appointments, invitations, or flirtations. For many, it is easier to avoid a situation than to try to get out of one (James 1:15).

So, what’s the play call?

First, examine yourself to see which sins you are most likely to fall prey to.

Second, examine those predicaments you’ve been in to see where you could have extinguished a small fire to avoid a large one.

Third, be on high alert for the small fires.

Fourth, call on the Living Water to put the flames out. He is the best fire extinguisher there is!

In 1 Corinthians 10:13 we’re reminded that, “No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; He’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; He’ll always be there to help you come through it.”

Blessings.

Hillsong UNITED Announces Surprise New Album, WONDER

hillsong united

The multi-platinum-selling Christian music powerhouse and chart leading Hillsong UNITED announced their sixth full-length studio album titled Wonder, set to be unveiled in all music stores on June 9th. Undisputedly one of the genre’s most influential artists in the history of contemporary Christian music (over 2 million albums sold and 700 million career streams to date, remaining the #1 Christian artist on all social media platforms reaching over 9 million fans combined), the band that rocketed to no. 5 on Billboard’s Top 200 with their last record “Empires,” hopes to re-awaken the innate sense of Wonder within the human being.

“Have we lost the Wonder?” asked Joel Houston, front man for the modest Australia-born band that has since become an international phenomenon.

Explaining intrinsically what it means further, Houston continues, “The hope, the imagination to dream, to believe, the tenderness to listen and lead first with mercy, the grace to empathize, the courage to trust, the fearlessness to love without pretense or condition. To see beyond the facts without dismissing them. To respond beyond the fear without reciprocating it. To sing beyond the noise, without adding to it. This is the challenge, and this is what worship— if worship can be summed up as an expression of art and music and story— is ultimately designed to do. To elevate the conversation, re-awaken the soul to something other, and lift our eyes to the wonder of a superlative truth.”

With the announcement comes two instant grats on iTunes and Spotify for songs “Wonder” and “Splinters and Stones.”
